Lonnie Quinn

Lonnie Quinn joined the NBC 6 news team in April 2002. He performs double duty as a weather anchor on weekends and a reporter during the week, focusing on stories that reflect the unique and interesting aspects of life in South Florida.

Most recently, Quinn worked with the NBC affiliate in Charlottesville, Virginia where he was, in his words, the newsroom's "Jack of all trades." His duties included everything from reporting to weathercasting, editing, producin and anchoring. He even dabbled in maintaining the company's vehicles, for which, he jokingly laments, he was not paid extra!

Quinn's diverse background began long before working in Charlottesville. After graduating from Boston College with a degree in communications, he went to New York City and studied drama at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. He portrayed the character Will Cooney/Cortland on All My Children, then moved to Los Angeles for the NBC series Santa Barbara. Two years later, Quinn ventured into local television with a morning talk show in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was there that he realized his love of writing and his desire to participate in local news.

Quinn is a private pilot and holds a meteorology certificate from the FAA. He is one of seven children, and is originally from Connecticut. He loves sports, movies and, most of all, his 4-year-old son, "little man" Nate.
